What is the simplest way of evidencing the value of Stay and Play sessions inn terms of prevention of escalation of need?

I always find stay and play a tricky one to evidence as it isnt always clear what the core purpose of the session is.
In terms of prevention of escalation, I would be looking at the service in terms of the number of families identified through S&P who have gone on to receive family support or access other targeted provision. I'd then be looking at data such as the number of CAFs which have been completed for these families which haven't escalated to social care level and the perecntage of these families who have gone on to achieve all of the outcomes set for them as part of the targeted provision. This in turn will enable you to look at the prevention aspect - i.e. the numbers / percentage of families who are identifed as being vulnerable, receive relevant CC support and then return to being a universal family, avoiding further interventions.
